Muhammad is the most common boy’s name for babies? The myth is spread by the Sweden Democrats’ media channel Riks. Jimmy Åkesson claimed it in 2010 at an anti-Muslim conference, using Malmö as a horror example. A lie that is spread on Flashback, Reddit and Facebook.
This is how insidious propaganda works. Today, rhetoric is being spread from a party that considers itself fit to govern after the next election, with a minister on the stool as Minister of Culture.

Old Man Noah
Hugo perhaps inspired by the book/film Hugo and Josefin. Albert from the farmhand in Emil in Lönneberga. The old man Noak has everyone humming. Liam is trickier to derive. Statistics from the Swedish Tax Agency show that Noah topped the newborn lists in 2025 (640 boys), after a steady rise since the 2010s; it is short, internationally viable and fits the Scandinavian trend with simple names like Liam and Hugo.

Noah has Hebrew and biblical origins from the Old Testament, where it means “rest” or “comfort” (from the Hebrew “nuach”). It is associated with Noah and the flood, and the name is popular among Christian, Jewish, and secular parents with no specific ethnic connection.
